There are different ways to play on TypeRacer. Click any of these to learn how to play different modes.
- Multiplayer -- Matchmake with players around the world.
- Singleplayer (Practice Mode) -- Play and practice by yourself.
- Play with Friends -- Create your own racetracks and play with your friends.
Multiplayer
Anyone can play TypeRacer, it's absolutely free and does not require an account to play. You can get started by clicking the big green "Enter a Typing Race" button from the front page to match up with random opponents.
You will see a text prompt that you will have to type. You have to type all of the capital letters and punctiation. If you make a mistake, you must erase your mistake and correct them. The goal is to be the fastest typist in the race and win!
Singleplayer (Practice Mode)
If you don't want to compete against players online, and just want to see your typing speed, like doing a typing test, you can play by yourself in Practice Mode. Click on the blue "Practice Yourself" button on the main menu to start a singleplayer session. There will be a timer that counts down from 3 giving you some time to start.
Play with Friends (Create your own Racetrack)
Want to challenge your friends? You can create your own custom racetracks and invite your friends to it. From the main menu of TypeRacer, click on the purple "Race your Friends" button. This will create your own racetrack that you can manage. You should see a pop-up dialog that will give you a link to share with your friends.
Anyone can play in your racetrack by default without an account. See TypeRacer Racetrack Commands to learn how you can manage your racetrack, ban users and more.
