This guide will walk you through on adding pre-existing texts to your universe that have been curated by TypeRacer or were created by other administrators that have made their texts public as well as creating your own texts.
Pro Tip: At any time, you can hover your mouse over the icon for more detailed information on each field. Clicking the icon will take you to the appropriate section on the User's Guide.
Adding pre-existing texts
Click the "Texts you can add" link. You should see many lists to choose from. To view texts in the defined list, click on a list to view then click the "Show texts" button. Scrolling down will show you all that texts included in that list. You can either add texts individually by going through each text and clicking the "Add" button.
If you are happy with all of the texts in a list, you may choose to add all of the texts from that list into your own universe by clicking the "Add all texts in this list" button.
Creating your own texts
Adding your own texts is simple! Click the "Create a new text" link. From there, you should see a form to fill out.
Media is the, "genre" of text that you are submitting and will be categorized appropriately.
Title is the name or origin of the text.
Author is whom you are directly quoting or who created the text.
Language specifies what language your text is written in.
ISBN is optional and is used to pull an image and link to the source of the text you're submitting. You can find an ISBN-10 / ASIN in the product details section on an Amazon listing.
Skill Levels defines what skill levels your text can be typed. Using the "auto-suggest" option will recommend skill levels based on the length of the text.
Visibility allows you to make your text either public or private. If your text is public, anyone may add their texts to their own universes. Private only allows you to use your text in your own universe.
Text is the content that you want to be typed.
Once you are finished filling out all of the fields of the form, you may click "Save" when you are done. You can review the details of the text you've just created. If you need to make edits, you can edit it at any time.
